What we store
Short, because there is not much.
Sentiment votes
When you vote we store the provider, your choice, the date, and a hash. The hash is an HMAC of your IP address and browser user-agent combined with a salt that rotates daily. Your IP address is never stored, and because the salt rotates, hashes cannot be linked across days. This exists to make casual duplicate voting harder. It is not identity verification and we do not present it as such.
Newsletter
Your email address, and the page you signed up from. Nothing else.
Analytics
Aggregate page and click events with a short-lived session hash derived the same way. No cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers, no profile building.
Outbound links
Links to providers may carry campaign parameters so we can tell which links are used. Following one takes you to that provider, whose own privacy policy then applies.
